Mt Batulao - Mt Talamitam (Twin Hike), Nasugbu, Batangas

My first twin hike!
schedule & expenses at the end of this post

Mt Batulao, Nasugbu, Batangas

If you're here to confirm if Mt Batulao is a beginner's trail, then the answer is yes. I'll tell you along this post why so and how the trail will go. To start your hike, a friendly neighborhood would greet you offering CR / Ligo accommodation and tindahans. The cemented trail is also quite long giving you the warm up that you need. Guides are only optional; the trail is already quite straightforward. It was only in the old trail that we feld kinda lost. Friendly tip - if you're feeling lost, go for the trail that is wider - somehow tells you that this path is more used.

In total, Mt Batulao has 6 registration sites. Three stations would ask for P30.00 and the other three for P20.00 for a total of P150.00. This is because Mt Batulao is a private property owned by different people.

At a certain point, you are to choose what trail to take. You could go from old (entry) to new (exit) or new to old. So what's the difference? The old trail is harder according to most. But if I were to describe it, it still is quite easy. It compose of a normal trek in the forest, fewer narrow (pertaining to what you're stepping in) hikes and more of the steep ones (pertaining to the steepness of the climb, usually the ones with ropes). Included here is the rock climbing site (you will see a picture of this from this post) and if you were to start from the old trail, you have to carry yourself up, and if going down should balance yourself and hold the rope tightly and surely to not fall and avoid an accident. Since we're talking about the rock climbing site, let me give a tip for what to wear during hikes.

During hikes, I always bring gloves to avoid hand injuries with ropes, rocks or whatever comes in our path. Another is to make sure to wear full coverage for both your legs and arms to protect it from both the heat of the sun (esp if the trail is open - no trees that much) and other things that might cause skin irritation. For the top, I usually go for dry fit and I always prefer to wear a hat to protect my face from the sun.. and maybe other falling objects/organisms that might say hi to me.

Going back, for the new trail, the intial path is just easy but as you get closer to the summit, there will be narrower paths. That is why for those who are afraid of heights, the new trail will be quite harder. For our hike, we went from new to old.

this is how the easy part of the new trail looks like

For a beginner's hike, a view like this is just.... ❤
had so many stops for picture taking lol

sadly, I wasn't able to take a picture of the narrow trails 😔

Mt Talamitam, Nasugbu, Batangas

For this one, we got a guide since it was around 2:45PM already when we started and we wanted to finish the hike as early as possible. except in perfect-for-picture-taking spots :))

You can get a guide from Mt Batulao to assist you to go to Mt Talamitam's jump-off which is around 15-30mins drive from Mt Batulao.

pictures just doesn't give justice to how beautiful the landscape was :(

Mt Talamitam Summit

Perks of hiking at around 3PM - no more hikers (so less crowded), and colder. Trek in Mt Talamitam is easier than Mt Batulao. Normally, the challenge here is sun's heat since hikers usually climb this at around 1PM right after Mt Batulao. But for our case, it was very windy.. we even caught the sun set! ⛅

saw my alma mater camping as we went down
